Visitors are roughly how many individuals arrive at your site.  Visitors are only counted on the FIRST page they come in on.  If you get a lot of visitors to certain pages of your site, you can bet that sites are either linking directly to that page, or they are finding it in one of the search engines.  Increasing your unique visitors is the primary goal for most sites.
